VIII-2 EUR BASIC ANP AUTOMATION IN AIS 10. Automation in AIS should be introduced with the objective of improving the overall speed, accuracy, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the aeronautical information service in the region. 11. AIS automation should offer a service to meet the individual requirements of the various categories of users. 12. The development of automation within AIS should be based on an integrated EUR region automated AIS system concept. 13. Automation in AIS should permit a cost-effective evolution of a regional system, taking account of the present and future technical possibilities and should be based on bilateral and/or multilateral coordination between States. This should be carried out by an AIS centre. Note. 1 — An AIS centre is a facility providing aeronautical information services for one State or providing aeronautical information services on behalf of one or more other States. Note. 2 — The European AIS Database (EAD) has been established by EUROCONTROL in order to provide a facility for the delivery of high quality aeronautical information. Details concerning the operation of the EAD are contained in Doc 7030 and the EUR FASID. 14. An integrated EUR region automated AIS system should be implemented in accordance with the guidance contained in Attachment A to Part VIII — AIS of the EUR FASID.
