Auscultation:<br />
Describe the normal heart sounds and define the areas where they are best heard:<br />
mitral area – apex, tricuspid area – left of lower sternum, aortic area – right second<br />
intercostals space and the pulmonary area – left second intercostals space.<br />
Listen over the apex and other areas and identify the first and second sounds.<br />
Explain the physiological basis of changes in intensity, split in the sounds, audible third<br />
and forth sounds, and presence of added sounds (murmurs and other sounds)<br />
