Coordination of Movement<br />
Upper limb:<br />
Ask the patient to touch the tip of his/her nose and then your finger. <strong>The</strong>n ask the<br />
patient to repeat it with eyes closed. Look for past pointing and shaky movement.<br />
Ask the patient to tap on the table rapidly. Look for inability to perform rapid<br />
repeated movements (dysdiadochokinesia).<br />
Lower limb:<br />
Ask the patient to walk on a straight line.<br />
Get the patient to a bed and ask to raise one leg in air, place the heel on the knee of the<br />
other leg and slide towards the ankle.<br />
Exercise: describe the changes expected in upper motor and lower motor lesions,<br />
cerebella lesions and basal ganglia lesions.<br />
