Moisturisers
If you only buy one body product this winter, make it a moisturiser. Everyone’s skin behaves differently from season to
season, so look for a richer and more intensive moisturiser for skin in winter and a lighter one in summer.
Barrier is the word de jour. In healthy skin the top layer (epidermis) has a seal around the cells to trap moisture, known
as a barrier function. Dryness, cold and sensitising products wreak havoc on this natural function and can lead to rashes,
itching and skin conditions such as eczema, so you need products to bolster your skin’s defences. Using or adding a richer
cream or oil into your routine will help to nourish and nurture your skin back to health.
Scented moisturisers can be a great substitute for perfume, and chances are your favourite brand of perfume
has a lotion in the same scent. If it’s not heavy duty enough for your skin, mix it with a rich fragrance-free lotion to
keep your skin smooth and smelling sweet.
