Driving through the buzzing streets of Bangkok’s shopping district, the sights

Contemporary interiors collide with thoughtful design twists inside the range
of suite configurations. As I enter, a distinctive interior garden wall alive with
tropical greenery greets me from behind a glass-walled courtyard. The verdant
Jim Thompson silk-panelled living area and lounge gives way to the plush
bedroom, and then the languishing masterpiece that is the bathroom – decked in
a harmonious marriage of wood, water and stone. The expansive space features
double sinks, a decadent rainshower and free-standing terrazzo bathtub,
each encased in their own glass compartments. In the living areas a daybed
cantilevered out over the pool soars into the bustling metropolis of Bangkok, an
intimate niche to enjoy a drink while surveying the city lights.
The temple of restoration and renewal in the heart of Hansar is its in-house
Luxsa Spa. Luxsa comes from the Sanskrit language and means ‘healing –
health through water’. This philosophy, together with the ancient Thai healing
methods based on the four body elements of earth, water, air and fire, forms the
basis of the spa’s concept.
A sanctuary for the senses, Luxsa offers an array of holistic treatments – from
soothing aromatherapy with pure Thai essential oils, spices and aromas and
facials using pure Thai ingredients to traditional massages and detoxifying body
wraps.
The spa comprises eight treatment suites, and I’m led down a hall to a
spacious double spa suite with a private bathroom and outdoor jacuzzi for my
treatment. I opt for one of the spa’s signature treatments, the 90-minute Eastern
Blend Massage. It’s a medium to strong massage that combines traditional Thai
techniques using soothing oils and targeting pressure points. It was the perfect
remedy to relieve sore and tired muscles and left me knot- and tension-free after
a day sightseeing.
