Eukaryotes:<br />
• Glycocalyx: A “slime coang” on some prokaryoc cells that helps protect the cell<br />
and enables it to aach to “unconvenonal” surfaces (i.e. teeth, lungs, arficial<br />
joints).<br />
• Thylakoid: Extensions of the plasma membrane of cyanobacteria containing photosynthec<br />
pigments.<br />
• Flagella: Long cylindrical protrusions that rotate to provide mobility.<br />
• Pili: Hair like extensions on the cell surface that transmit genec informaon and<br />
help secure the bacteria to its host.<br />
