Eukaryotes:<br />

• Glycocalyx: A “slime coang” on some prokaryoc cells that helps protect the cell<br />

and enables it to aach to “unconvenonal” surfaces (i.e. teeth, lungs, arficial<br />

joints).<br />

• Thylakoid: Extensions of the plasma membrane of cyanobacteria containing photosynthec<br />

pigments.<br />

• Flagella: Long cylindrical protrusions that rotate to provide mobility.<br />

• Pili: Hair like extensions on the cell surface that transmit genec informaon and<br />

help secure the bacteria to its host.<br />

• Nucleolus: A part of the nucleus that is made of RNA, Protein and Chroman and<br />

manufactures RNA and ribosomes.<br />

• Cytoskeleton: The “skeleton” found in all eukaryoc cells that provides shape to<br />

the cell while also enabling it to move. It consists of three parts:<br />
