Quesons
1. What is the gene pool of this populaon?
2. What is the gene frequency?
Genec variaon is simply the genec difference within or between populaons, in the gene pool and/
or gene frequency.
Consider the following two populaons of buerflies:
Fact: Both populaons contain the same 4 colors of buerflies,
thus the gene pool is the same. However, the distribuon of
colors within that populaon is different, thus their gene frequencies
are different.
NOTE: In these exercises on gene
pool, gene frequency and genec
diversity; assume there are 4 alleles
for color and that all buerflies are
homozygous.
