A <strong>Life</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Day</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nixdown</strong> <strong>Nixon</strong><br />
beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> break through so hopefully it will turn<br />
<strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> a pretty day as I will have <strong>to</strong> spend <strong>the</strong> majority<br />
<strong>of</strong> it patroll<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> grounds.<br />
Debs is chatter<strong>in</strong>g away cheerfully about her<br />
new hairdo. Despite her natural self-assurance which<br />
can sometimes be ra<strong>the</strong>r irritat<strong>in</strong>g she is not <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
least bit va<strong>in</strong>. In fact she is quite <strong>the</strong> opposite and<br />
can be very self-conscious. I th<strong>in</strong>k that is part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
reason that she always used <strong>to</strong> dress like a hobo.<br />
Yesterday I f<strong>in</strong>ally persuaded her <strong>to</strong> come <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn<br />
with me and a visit a friend <strong>of</strong> m<strong>in</strong>e, Pencil, at his<br />
salon.<br />
We <strong>to</strong>ok <strong>the</strong> bus <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn and she was<br />
extremely grumpy and non-communicative. I<br />
assumed this was because she still had smoke<br />
billow<strong>in</strong>g out from under her skirt as a result <strong>of</strong> be<strong>in</strong>g<br />
caned by <strong>the</strong> Wart just an hour earlier. <strong>The</strong> Wart<br />
hates Deborah and really did a number on her.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Wart landed <strong>the</strong> first five strokes with textbook<br />
precision and <strong>the</strong>n announced that she was<br />
go<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ish th<strong>in</strong>gs up with a bacon slicer. We all<br />
had our f<strong>in</strong>gers crossed and were hop<strong>in</strong>g that <strong>the</strong><br />
Wart would fluff <strong>the</strong> stroke and miss but sadly not.<br />
Somehow Debs managed <strong>to</strong> stay down and<br />
avoided giv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Wart <strong>the</strong> opportunity <strong>to</strong> take a<br />
second shot at her. Of course Debs put a brave face<br />
on it while she was be<strong>in</strong>g post-processed but I have<br />
known her for a long time and I could tell that she<br />
had just been nailed and was <strong>in</strong> pretty bad shapes.<br />
My pal Pencil is as camp as a row <strong>of</strong> tents and<br />
can be very bitchy but I had <strong>in</strong>structed him <strong>to</strong> be nice<br />
<strong>to</strong> Debs and for once he kept his catty <strong>to</strong>ngue <strong>in</strong>
