Fresh from a Whopp<strong>in</strong>g<br />

I cross <strong>the</strong> quad and go over <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> cafeteria <strong>in</strong><br />

pursuit <strong>of</strong> more java. <strong>The</strong> café is crowded with <strong>the</strong><br />

boisterous sounds <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>mates hang<strong>in</strong>g out<br />

gabb<strong>in</strong>g and chow<strong>in</strong>g down on <strong>the</strong> brunch that Cassie<br />

Cassy and her crew have prepared. In general at<br />

weekends <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>mates are cut plenty <strong>of</strong> slack and <strong>the</strong><br />

only rules <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> cafeteria are no excessive and<br />

dangerous horseplay and strictly no food fights.<br />

A few weeks ago I was on duty when <strong>the</strong> Bond<br />

tw<strong>in</strong>s started lobb<strong>in</strong>g food about as if <strong>the</strong>y were<br />

chimpanzee’s at a shit-throw<strong>in</strong>g tea-party and<br />

pandemonium ensued. It <strong>to</strong>ok some considerable<br />

time for me and Deborah <strong>to</strong> res<strong>to</strong>re order and<br />

resulted <strong>in</strong> a mass beat<strong>in</strong>g. Hopefully we won’t have a<br />

repeat <strong>of</strong> that <strong>in</strong>cident <strong>to</strong>day.<br />

I go over <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> c<strong>of</strong>fee station and score some<br />

espresso. I am fill<strong>in</strong>g my cup when Melanie White and<br />

Claire Brooks come over. <strong>The</strong>y are both dressed <strong>in</strong> full<br />

clobber and I can tell <strong>in</strong>stantly that <strong>the</strong>y are both<br />

fresh from a whopp<strong>in</strong>g.
