Bill Adair is an accomplished singersongwriter
based in Glasgow, Scotland.
Equally at home playing blues from the
Mississippi Delta or singing a traditional
ballad, Bill has developed his own
distinctive sound with his rich baritone
voice and carefully crafted guitar picking.
His original material draws on influences
from traditional Piedmont and
Delta Blues, and from contemporary
writers and players like Ralph McTell,
Stefan Grossman and Eric Bibb.
Bill is in constant demand as a solo
singer at festivals and folk clubs,
and has gained a reputation as an
innovative interpreter not only of blues
but also the works of Burns, re-working
and stripping back the original,
familiar melodies to something which
has more in common with the Delta
cotton fields than the Ayrshire corn rigs.
Attend a drumming session with
Mike McElya of Sunshine Drumming and
something extraordinary happens inside
your head.
Mikes technique can turn a roomful
of strangers into a cohesive group of
friends in the time it takes to drink
a hot cup of coffee. From small gigs
to elaborate performances staged at
festivals and public events around the UK,
Mike’s Sunshine Drumming works with
this ancient vocabulary to create a
powerful sense of unity.
Mike fully deserves his reputation as one
of the most professional rhythm leaders
in the business.
A maker of delicate yet stubborn
songs; an instinctive traveller; a human
scrapbook – Kirsty McGee has become
something of a cult figure on the UK
songwriting scene. Her emergence as a
unique writing voice in acoustic music
coincided with her now-famous early
appearance alongside Suzanne Vega at
Brampton Live festival in 2001.
This has been followed by four
acclaimed studio albums, two BBC
award nominations (best newcomer and
best original song), national airplay in
several countries, collaborations with
established names and a consistently
busy international touring schedule.
“One of the strongest and most unusual
voices of her generation”
– The Irish World
“The kind of voice that stops you dead in
your tracks”
Reuben’s Train are a duo performing
mostly American songs, some traditional
and some not so traditional, from the
darker side of life. Mick Watson (vocals,
eyebrows) and Keith Osborne (vocals,
guitar, banjo and sideburns) have been
performing together for ten years at
festivals and folk clubs, dressing always
in black as a mark of respect for the
songs and stories they relate, and leaving
audiences wondering.
“...London’s most dramatic duo.
Sophisticated, funny and weird...”
– Islington Folk Club
“Unusual English duo... with excellent
harmony, guitar and banjo (plus frockcoats
and impressive eyebrows)”
– Time Out
“...it’s a crime that we haven’t heard
more of the supremely weirdly talented
Reuben’s Train”
– Both Sides of the Tweed 2 Music Festival
