Flautist Rowland Sutherland has an
international career in music. He regularly
performs in non-Western groups,
new music ensembles, jazz groups,
symphony orchestras, pop outfits and as
a soloist. Rowland’s experience in non-
Western and jazz music has led him to
work with US saxophonist/bass clarinetist
David Murray; African master drummer
Gaspar Lawal; the ‘Rebirth Brass Band’
– New Orleans; Pops Mohamed, master
percussionist – Southern Africa;
Frank Wess, Ali Ryerson, Airto, Joyce,
Dom Um Romao, Flora Purim and many
others.
Rowland’s Project ‘Creative Force’ six piece
Caribbean influenced group, features Orphy
Robinson on vibes. His ‘Rowland Sutherland
Sextet’ plays jazz with Caribbean sounds.
Rowland Sutherland’s Mistura, performs
Brazilian music. Rowland’s quintet
‘In Kimbe’ with Filomena Campus plays
Mediterranean and Brazilian sounds.

Stu Hanna and Debbie Hanna,
the husband and wife duo Megson, are
fast becoming “hot property”
(The Guardian Jan 09) on the folk/roots
scene. Their three albums have chronicled
that blossoming talent.
Formed in 2004 the couple have played
across the country at folk clubs and
festivals supporting bands like Show
of Hands and Seth Lakeman and more
recently selling out their own tours.
Their talent was recognised with a
nomination for Best Duo in the 2009 BBC
Radio 2 Folk Awards. The Guardian gave
their latest album ‘Take Yourself a Wife’ a
4-star review followed by a major feature
and the Independant has listed Megson in
their 5 Gigs to See section on no less than
three occasions.

Dragonsfire, the vocal and multiinstrumental
quartet, performs regularly
throughout the United Kingdom and
Europe, and past engagements have
taken them to Canada, Scandinavia and
the Middle East.
The group has made several recordings,
appeared on radio, television and in
feature film, and they have composed
and performed music for both radio and
theatrical productions. Their performances
are known for their unique blend of
informal yet highly professional presentation,
beautiful harmonies, haunting melodies,
infectious fun, colourful costume and
breathtaking versatility.
They play a huge array of instruments
and each musical item is arranged by
a member of the group, ensuring their
highly individual style which will appeal
to all music lovers, including the nonspecialist

Born in the Breacon Beacons,
Welsh singer-songwriter Kate Westall grew
up absorbing a large tradition of Welsh
and World Music at Eisteddfods.
Her career began at 16 singing for Swing/
Jazz Big Band ‘The Skyliners’.
Ever since, Kate has embraced many
genres of music and lent her versatile
voice to sing and co-write with a diverse
mix of UK artists, DJs and producers.
Since moving to London to further
her music career, Kate developed her
songwriting, collaborating with musicians
of Celtic, Continental and Classical
backgrounds.
Kate’s band provide a unique acoustic
sound flavoured with folk, soul, blues and
rock. Topped with uplifting melodies and
a purely beautiful voice, Kate Westall gives
