Carl Bakewell, singer-songwriter, born in
1969. From the age of 9 he accompanied
his father to local Folk Clubs making his
debut performance at the age of 14.
A familiar face on the local music scene,
he ran Market Harborough Folk Club in
Leicestershire for a number of years.
Despite a Love/Hate relationship with
Folk he has now returned – thanks to an
unforeseen chain of events sparked by
a BBC Radio Competition and airplay of
one of his songs on Folkwaves.
This led to the formation of Tiptoe Hill
with Anna Sagona (Keys) and Pete Russell
(Bass Guitar), writing and recording
original contemporary material from
‘The Dark Side of Folk’.

Robert is a gifted, inspiring and
highly qualified bagpiper, performing,
composing and teaching in the traditional
Scottish style and Scottish piping with a
more contemporary twist.
Whether harmoniously combining
contrasting musical elements from
Piobaireadhd to Pipehop, Robert always
respects the great legacy of the Scottish
pipers and the thriving evolving tradition.
As a leading innovator of traditional youth
music, Robert’s Scottish Cultural Events
and Education organisation, TRAD-ARR
is currently the delivery partner for
Aberdeenshire Council’s Youth Music
Initiative, Bagpipe and Drum Programme.
His role as Director of Music Pipes and
Drums, Fulda Military Tattoo 2009,
Germany, demonstrates his place in
major national and international events.
Trad to funky, Robert inspires with his
own unique touch of magic.
With early training in classical music and
through a detour studying social sciences,
Lily Shea re-emerged as a folk-rock
songstress and made her new home in
London.
With soulful, intimate songs and a unique
voice, writing under influences from
Nick Drake to Tori Amos and Feist,
Lily Shea has been playing around the
capital touching those paying attention.
