Technical Officials <strong>Handbook</strong>- ArcheryRestricted and Prohibited ItemsItems that have been determined are prohibited within Games venues. Prohibited items include,but are not limited to, the following: guns, explosive materials, chemical or incendiary mechanisms,tear-gas, smoke bombs, knives, narcotics or other prohibited substances, firecrackers, poles, batsand in general items that may cause physical damage, or pose a security threat, even if said item(s)are legally possessed. Attempting to enter a venue in possession of a prohibited item will result inimmediate arrest by the Police.Restricted actions are those actions that may offend or constitute obstruction to the safe conductof the Sport.A separate list of such items will be provided in due courseReporting of IncidentsAny incidents that endanger the safety of persons at a Games venue, or any suspected criminalactivity within Games venues should be reported to security immediately.Security to the Field of PlayOnly persons with the appropriate accreditation or a valid operational reason will be grantedaccess to the Field of Play at Competition Venues.For all sports, the Competition Manager has ultimate authority in granting access to the Field ofPlay. Security’s role is to support Competition Management and Spectator Services in guaranteeingspectators, media, and other accredited persons comply with the regulations of the eventorganizers.Transport SecurityDelhi Police will monitor the entire Games transport network, providing a base level of security toall Games Family Members. Technical Officials will primarily use T4 category buses. Initial securitysearches will be mandatory for vehicles used to transport Technical Officials, prior to official use.These vehicles will be stored at secured sites and may undergo further security screening prior touse, on a daily basis. Each vehicle will be assigned an accredited driver who will be responsible formaintaining the safety and integrity of the vehicle. Each official bus will have one plain cloth armedpolice escort inside.Stay Safe at the GamesDelhi Police work closely with other supporting involved in Games Security, to establish a saferenvironment by reducing violence, crime and fear.Safety tipsBe aware of your surroundings, and stay in well-lit areas.Be familiar with the transport routes and locations that you will be using.Limit the amount of cash that you carry on person.Keep details of your passport (e.g. photocopy of first page), traveller’s cheques and creditcard numbers separate from your cash and wallet.When attending public events, bring beverages in non-glass containers.On the Road All car occupants must wear seat belts or child restraints (in the back seat).Commonwealth Games 2010 25
Technical Officials <strong>Handbook</strong>- ArcheryDriving is on the right-hand side of the road.All motorcycle occupants must wear a motorcycle helmet.Adhere to the defined speed limit in residential areas as signposted.Driving is prohibited when the driver is under the influence of alcohol, toxic substances ordrugs that may impact the driver’s abilities.Avoid driving at night or when you know you are tired. When driving outside major cities,stop and rest for at least fifteen (15) minutes every two (2) hours.Drivers must always carry their current driver’s licence, vehicle permit and insurancecontract.General Carrying or using prohibited drugs is a serious crime, resulting in a heavy fine or jailsentence.Carrying a knife (without justifiable cause) is against the law. Police reserve the right tosearch anyone suspected of carrying prohibited items.Carrying firearms is illegal without possession of a valid Firearms Licence.Commonwealth Games 2010 26
