Technical Officials <strong>Handbook</strong>- ArcheryArrival ProceduresVisas & ImmigrationThe Government of India instructions suggest that a Tourist Visa can only be granted to a foreignerwho does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India isrecreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives etc. No other activity ispermissible on a Tourist Visa. The Tourist Visa is non-extendable and non-convertible, and valid for180 days with multiple entries.NVPNVP holders are not required to apply separately for an Indian visa to enter India. The NVP will notcover technical officials for entry into India prior to 3 September 2010 or for staying in India after13 November 2010. In addition, individuals using their NVP as a visa to enter India must ensure thattheir passport is valid for 6 months after the Games (i.e. 31 March 2011) and that the details ontheir passport match the information on the NVP.NVP will be accepted by the Bureau of Indian Immigration and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security atall borders/airports of India.The NVP will only entitle the holder entry into India and shall not in any case act as a transitdocument through any region/country that the holder may need to travel through en route toIndia.In case, technical officials do not get the NVP on time for any reason (e.g. late submission ofApplication for Accreditation, last minute changes of their team members), their officials maycontact the Nodal Officer in their respective Indian Missions/Posts for facilitation on top priority,which will be issued Gratis for the Games period.Every technical official who is required to visit India pre-Games and post-Games time (excluding thePeriod 3 September – 13 November 2010 mentioned above) needs to obtain a valid visa from theIndian Missions/Posts overseas.The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has been requested by the OC CWG Delhi2010 to issue appropriate visas to all CGAs to cover pre-Games time visits. To prioritize andfacilitate issue of such visas, the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has appointedNodal Officers (Single Point of Contact) at all Indian Missions in Commonwealth Nations.Temporary Landing Facility (TLF)Technical officials travelling to India during Games time (between 23 September and 14 October2010) who do not possess NVPs/valid visas for any reason will be granted TLF (on gratis basis).However, this facility should be availed of only on a restrictive basis when absolutely essential.The details (Name, Father’s Name, Passport Number with Place and Date of Issue and Expiry, Flightdetails with date and time and place of landing in India with contact details) of persons requiringTLF facility, should be sent to their respective CGA Regional Manager/Coordinator at least 72 hoursCommonwealth Games 2010 4
