Technical Officials <strong>Handbook</strong>- ArcheryDangerous Items Not Permitted In Hand BaggageThe following items are not permitted to be carried in hand baggage: Compressed gases (deeply refrigerated, flammable, non flammable and poisonous), such asbutane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders and compressed gas cylinders such ascamping gas. Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries and apparatus containingmercury. Explosives, ammunitions, fireworks and flares, blank cartridges, pistols or any otherweapons and pistol caps. Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter refills, lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners,firelighters, lighters that need inverting before ignition, substances liable to spontaneouscombustion, substances which emit flammable gases on contact with water. Radioactive materials. Briefcases and attaché cases with installed alarm or pyrotechnic devices. Oxidising materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides. Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials. Other dangerous articles such as magnetized materials, offensive or irritating materials. Dry cell batteries, knives, scissors, sharp instruments, tools, fire arms, ammunition, andtheir toy replicas.CustomsAfter collecting their baggage, technical officials will proceed to the exit where a Customs Officerwill check their documents.The Indian Customs Act makes it mandatory that the owner of any baggage before moving out ofthe Arrival Hall makes a declaration of the contents of his baggage to a Customs Officer. Theseinclude items which may be prohibited or restricted and items on which duty or tax may bepayable. There are penalties for making false declarations and/or presenting fraudulentdocuments. In some cases goods may be seized.Any person can bring any amount of foreign exchange in India. However if the value of foreigncurrency notes exceeds US $ 5,000 (or equivalent) or aggregate value of foreign exchange in theform of currency note, bank notes, traveller cheques, etc. exceeds US $ 10,000 (or equivalent), thepassenger has to make a declaration in the Currency Declaration Form (CDF). It has to be noted,that import/export of Indian currency by foreign tourists is strictly prohibited.The Government of India has already put in place a mechanism for exempting sports goods,equipment and requisites from payment of customs duty. Accordingly in order to remove allbottlenecks and to ensure that the Games are organised smoothly, the Government of India hasissued a comprehensive notification exempting goods/equipment imported as their personal/cargobaggage for the purpose of the Games by CGAs during Games time from payment of Customs duty.This notification will cover customs exemption on the following: Sports kits/equipment including firearms (for sporting events) of participating Athletes andTeam Officials. Goods brought by foreign delegation for use/distribution during the Games such assouvenir, Mementos, literature, stationery and gift items. Broadcasting equipment for covering the Games and to be re-exported after the Games.Commonwealth Games 2010 6
