108 Estella Pulse Generators Technical ManualBIOTRONIK recommends the use of bipolar pacing leads with newimplants so that all of the programmable parameters of Estella pulsegenerators are available for use. Estella pulse generators have a selfsealingheader. Refer to the following steps when connecting a lead(s) tothe pulse generator.First, confirm that the setscrew(s) is not protruding into the connectorreceptacle. To retract a setscrew, insert the enclosed torque wrenchthrough the perforation in the self-sealing plug at an angle perpendicularto the lead connector until it is firmly placed in the setscrew.CautionSetscrew Adjustment—Back-off the setscrew(s) prior toinsertion of lead connector(s) as failure to do so may result indamage to the lead(s), and/or difficulty connecting lead(s).Cross Threading Setscrew(s)—To prevent cross threadingthe setscrew(s), do not back the setscrew(s) completely out ofthe threaded hole. Leave the torque wrench in the slot of thesetscrew(s) while the lead is inserted.Rotate the wrench counterclockwise until the receptacle is clear ofobstruction. Then connect the pacing leads as described below.Insert the lead connector pin into the connector receptacle of the pulsegenerator without bending the lead until the connector pin becomesvisible behind the setscrew. Hold the connector in this position.1. Insert the enclosed torque wrench through the perforation in theself-sealing plug at an angle perpendicular to the lead connectoruntil it is firmly placed in the setscrew.CautionTightening Setscrew(s)—Do not overtighten the setscrew(s).Use only the BIOTRONIK supplied torque wrench.Sealing System—Be sure to properly insert the torque wrenchinto the perforation at an angle perpendicular to the connectorreceptacle. Failure to do so may result in damage to the plugand its self-sealing properties.2. Securely tighten the setscrew of the connector clockwise with thetorque wrench until torque transmission is limited by the wrench.
