(John Deere XP Vacuumplanter)8 rows by variable length (~1350 feet)17-MayRoundup PowerMax was applied over-the-top on 15-June and8-July at 28 oz/acre with AMS. An additional post-directedapplication of Roundup PowerMax at 28 oz/acre with Valor at 2oz/acre and AMS was made on 15-August.The field had a 3.7 gpm/acre irrigation capacity. This provided for0.19 acre-inches/day. From 25-June to 31-August a total ofapproximately 12 inches of irrigation were applied.57

The producer applied a total of 100 more lbs N for a totalof 189 lbs N.None were applied at this location.Harvest aids: Harvest aids included an initial application of ethephon at 21oz/acre with 1 oz/acre Aim on 21-September and a sequentialapplication of 24 oz/acre Gramoxone Inteon with 0.25% v/vnon-ionic surfactant on 5-October.Harvest:Gin turnout:Fiber analysis:Ginning costand seed values:Seed andTechnology fees:Plots were harvested on 15-October using a commercial JohnDeere 7460 with field cleaner. Harvested material was transferredto a weigh wagon with integral electronic scales to record individualplot weights. Plot weights were subsequently converted to lb/acrebasis.Grab samples were taken by plot and ginned at the Texas A&MAgriLife Research and Extension Center at Lubbock to determinegin turnouts.Lint samples were submitted to the Texas Tech University – Fiberand Biopolymer Research Institute for HVI analysis, and USDACommodity Credit Corporation (CCC) loan values were determinedfor each variety by plot.Ginning cost were based on $3.00 per cwt. of bur cotton and seedvalue/acre was based on $250/ton. Ginning cost did not includecheck-off.Seed and technology costs were calculated using the appropriateseeding rate (4.0 seed/row-ft) for the 40-inch row spacing andentries using the online Plains Cotton Growers Seed CostComparison Worksheet available at:http://www.plainscotton.org/Seed/PCGseed12.xls .58
