(John Deere 1700 Vacuumplanter)4 rows by variable length (~2660 feet)24-MayTrifluralin was applied preplant incorporated at 1.25 pt/acre acrossall varieties. Roundup PowerMax was applied over-the-top at 32oz/acre with AMS on 15-June and 25-July.Irrigation: 3.0” of irrigation were applied via LESA irrigation preplant with 10.5”of LESA irrigation during the growing season for a total of 13.5”applied irrigation.81

The producer applied a total of 50 more lbs N for a total of93 lbs N/acre.None were applied at this location.Harvest aids included an initial application of ethephon at 1 pt/acrewith 2 oz/acre ET on 5-October. No additional harvest aids wererequired due to an early freeze event on 8-October.Plots were harvested on 29-October using a commercial JohnDeere 7450 with field cleaner. Harvested material was transferredto a weigh wagon with integral electronic scales to record individualplot weights. Plot weights were subsequently converted to lb/acrebasis.Grab samples were taken by plot and ginned at the Texas A&MAgriLife Research and Extension Center at Lubbock to determinegin turnouts.Lint samples were submitted to the Texas Tech University – Fiberand Biopolymer Research Institute for HVI analysis, and USDACommodity Credit Corporation (CCC) loan values were determinedfor each variety by plot.Ginning cost were based on $3.00 per cwt. of bur cotton and seedvalue/acre was based on $250/ton. Ginning cost did not includecheck-off.Seed and technology costs were calculated using the appropriateseeding rate (3.0 seed/row-ft) for the 40-inch row spacing andentries using the online Plains Cotton Growers Seed CostComparison Worksheet available at:http://www.plainscotton.org/Seed/PCGseed12.xls .82
