During the 2012 growing season GainesCounty experienced high temperatures and very little rainfall. The environmentalconditions prior to and during the growing season were a limiting factor in thevarieties performance overall. It should be noted that no inclement weather wasencountered at this location prior to harvest and therefore, no pre-harvest losseswere observed. Additional multi-site and multi-year applied research is neededto evaluate varieties and technology across a series of environments.Appreciation is expressed to Cheuvront Farms for the use of his land, equipmentand labor for this demonstration.Trade names of commercial products used in this report are included only forbetter understanding and clarity. Reference to commercial products or tradenames is made with the understanding that no discrimination is intended and noendorsement by the Texas A&M System is implied. Readers should realize thatresults from one experiment do not represent conclusive evidence that the sameresponse would occur where conditions vary.91
