Documenting an Export Shipment<br />
<strong>UPS</strong> uses export/import documents<br />
you prepare to properly declare<br />
your shipment to customs in both<br />
the country of export <strong>and</strong> the country<br />
of import. The required documents<br />
are submitted to customs to determine<br />
the applicable duties <strong>and</strong><br />
taxes in the destination country.<br />
This documentation may include:<br />
– An invoice.<br />
– A U.S. Shipper’s Export Declaration<br />
(S.E.D.).<br />
– A Certificate of Origin or a North<br />
American Free Trade Agreement<br />
(NAFTA) Certificate of Origin.<br />
– Other documents based on value,<br />
nature <strong>and</strong> destination of shipment.<br />

<strong>Service</strong>s Waybill for multiple-package<br />
international service, make it easy<br />
to complete an invoice, S.E.D.,<br />
Certificate of Origin or NAFTA<br />

In order to file an S.E.D. electronically,<br />
users can log in directly to<br />
the U.S. Government Automated<br />
Export System (AES) Web site at<br />
aesdirect.gov to obtain the appropriate<br />
information for completing<br />
their <strong>UPS</strong> shipment. <strong>UPS</strong> recommends<br />
electronic filing as the<br />
preferred method for S.E.D. filing.<br />
shipments to the same recipient,<br />
only the lead package requires a<br />
waybill. Each additional package<br />
must have an address label <strong>and</strong> a <strong>UPS</strong><br />
Worldwide <strong>Service</strong>s Tracking Label.<br />

are included on the reverse side<br />
of the waybill.<br />
WorldShip 5.0 or higher <strong>and</strong> some<br />
<strong>UPS</strong> OnLine Compatible vendor<br />
shipping systems connect to<br />
AESDirect to allow customers<br />
to file their S.E.D. electronically<br />
with the Census Bureau <strong>and</strong> U.S.<br />

shipment when asked to create<br />
<strong>and</strong> file an S.E.D. on behalf of the<br />
shipper. All required data must be<br />
