Restricted and
Prohibited Articles (Import)
The following items may be shipped
into the United States on a contractual
basis only:
– Alcoholic beverages**
– Dangerous goods
– Diagnostic specimens
– Perishables
– Personal effects†
– Plants
– Seeds
– Tobacco
Service is limited and is subject
to certain restrictions. Call the
UPS International Customer Service
Center at 1-800-782-7892 for
further details.
The following articles are prohibited
by UPS:
– Animal products, non-domesticated
– Firearms and weapons
– Furs
– Ivory
– Live animals
It is the shipper’s responsibility to
comply with current government
regulations or laws applicable in
each country. Shipments are subject
to inspection and possible delay by
customs officials or representatives
of other government agencies.
Certain countries have additional
prohibited articles. For additional
information, call the UPS
International Customer Service

UPS Return Services
UPS Return Services are not
provided via UPS Next Day Air ®
Early A.M. ® , UPS Next Day Air
Saver ® and UPS 2nd Day Air
A.M. ® . (If you are not using a UPS
WorldShip ® , UPS Internet Shipping,
UPS Returns SM on the Web, UPS
CampusShip TM or UPS OnLine ®
Compatible vendor shipping system,
packages delivered in the 48
contiguous states can be retrieved
with a Call Tag via UPS Ground.)
UPS Return Services are not permitted
back to the U.S. from international
countries. Hazardous Materials
requiring shipping papers cannot be
retrieved via UPS Return Services.
Return shipments from Puerto Rico
to the United States are not permitted.
See pages 146 to 147 for
value limits on Return Services packages.
Saturday delivery is available
for Authorized Return Service (ARS).
Multi-piece shipments are not available
for Return Services shipped
within the U.S. 50 states and
Puerto Rico.
Tobacco
Packages containing tobacco
products will be accepted for transportation
only when the shipper
and consignee are properly licensed
to ship and receive such items,
respectively, pursuant to any applicable
federal, state, provincial or
local law or regulation. Packages
containing tobacco products shipped
to a consumer will only be accepted
for transportation as a contractual
service. To receive service for packages
containing tobacco products
shipped to a consumer, the shipper
PROCESS YOUR SHIPMENT
must sign a contract and agree
to the provisions set forth in the
approved UPS Agreement for the
Transportation of Tobacco Products.
As with all other packages, shipments
containing tobacco products
will only be accepted for transportation
when shipped in accordance
with the terms and conditions
of the UPS Tariff.
UPS Hundredweight Service ®
UPS Hundredweight Service
is available only for customers
receiving a daily pickup.
UPS Next Day Air Early A.M.
is not available.
Express Envelopes are excluded.
UPS Return Services are not provided.
Hazardous Materials packages
requiring shipping papers as
described under Title 49 C.F.R.
Section 172.200 are not accepted
in UPS Hundredweight Service.
In addition, all “Other Regulated
Materials” (ORM-D) and combustible
liquids with a flashpoint of 141
degrees or less require shipping
papers when transported by air;
therefore, they are prohibited in the
UPS 3 Day Select SM Hundredweight
and Air Hundredweight services.
They are also prohibited in UPS
Ground Hundredweight Service
to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico
and Catalina Island.

Note: Limited shipment
of personal effects to 16
destination countries is
available at all locations
of The UPS StoreTM and
