MotorsSIMOVERT MVRib-cooled H-compacthigh-voltage motorsTechnical dataThe H-compact high-voltagemotors are rib-cooled squirrelcageinduction motors. Theyhave an extremely compacttype of construction. Togetherwith SIMOVERT MV drive converters, they form a high-performancedrive system in the outputrange from 0.8 MW to3.6 MW (shaft heights 500 to630). The motors are availablein two different versions:¦ Self-ventilated (1LA4)¦ Force-ventilated (1PQ4)They are especially suitable forapplications which require¦ high efficiency and/or¦ high torques even at lowspeeds. The essential features of themotors include:¦ High power density¦ Compact type ofconstruction¦ Enclosed design with degreeof protection IP55, optionalup to IP56¦ Optimized efficiency for ahigh degree of costeffectiveness¦ Torsionally stiff, rugged castiron enclosure and bearingendshields¦ Reliable bearing designwith either rolling-contact orsleeve bearings¦ All of the parts have longtermcorrosion protection¦ MICALASTIC VPI highvoltageinsulation (VacuumPressure Impregnation)¦ Filters are not requiredbetween the drive converterand the motor¦ Low noise¦ Essentially maintenance-free4Fig. 4/11LA4 high-voltage motor, type of construction IM B3 (horizontal)Fig. 4/21LA4 high-voltage motor. type of construction IM V1 (vertical)Cooling principleH-compact motors have twocooling air circuits: an enclosedinner cooling air circuit and anopen outer cooling air circuit. The air is blown through the innercooling air circuit using ashaft-mounted fan; the heat isdissipated to the outer coolingair circuit through the motor enclosurewhich acts like a heatexchanger. In the outer coolingair circuit, the air is blown overthe cooling ribs of the motor enclosure. This is realized using ashaft-mounted fan for self-ventilated1LA4 motors or using aseparately-driven fan, integratedin the fan shroud, for forceventilated1PQ4 motors.Fig. 4/3Cooling principle of H-compact motorsOuter cooling airflowInner cooling airflowDA63-50134/2 Siemens DA 63 · 2004
