Altogether thereare very many beautiful pictures there. We couldn’t getaround to all of them but we want to go again. Then wewant to go to a special exhibition of Dresden artists. Iwould also like to visit the Albertinum where there arefine sculptures. We also went to see the Church of theHoly Cross.On Sunday afternoon we took the steamboat to theking’s country estate at Pillnitz. It took us about an hourand forty-five minutes to get there and it was a glorioustrip past the White Stag. It was fairly lively and anunbelieveable number of people were swimming in theElbe, then in addition paddle and rowing and sailboatsin great numbers. It was very lively and colorful. Pillnitzwas a pleasure estate of August the Strong. A huge flightof stairs goes right down into the Elbe, where he usedto arrive with his gondola. The buildings are simple butbeautifully arranged with lovely courtyards in between.On the return journey in the evening the lights on theriver were wonderful. There are four bridges over theElbe and through the various arches you could see thelights reflected in the water.90
