The little boy beamed allover and was very happy.The double wedding is also over now. Both couples areon their honeymoon for a few days. A number of relativescame as guests for the occasion. On Saturday afternoonthe couples went in a wagon to the registrar, andwhen they returned we had a festive meal. The olderchildren were there and during the meal recited somereally fine poems by Rückert. There was also a lot ofsinging. Responding to something that was said by thefather of one of the brides, Emi-Margret’s father spoke atlength about the purpose of the life here, very clearly andconvincingly. The celebration ended with a song sung alltogether. It made a deep impression on everyone. Whenwe went outside there was a clear moonlit night withhoarfrost, so beautiful that no one wanted to go to bed,so we took a little walk on the Küppel.The next day, Sunday, I took care of the kindergartenuntil noon. First there was a meeting of the inner circle ofthe community with the couples. At twelve o’clock wasthe public celebration in which all the guests took part.Emi-Margret’s father led this part of the meeting, whichincluded the actual exchange of vows.
