And the questionarises as to whether it may and can be that by turningto a life under God and to the active love which growsout of such a life, one at the same time may cut off anddestroy the love –and therefore the inner existence –ofthose to whom one has previously believed oneselfstrongly bound and who now find themselves –this is thedilemma – in dire straits. The issue at hand is not merelya matter of a personal separation, which one would beable to bear through faith, but rather it is a matter of thehardship–and then even the increased hardship –of theother person. And I cannot believe that it is right for onelove to injure the other. It also can’t be that a life lived forpeople–for all people –can be right if through it some arewounded to their very core. And therefore I also thinkthat a positive solution has to be found. It just hasn’tyet become clear to me how to go about this –I mean,180
