It awakens in people alonging for the infinite and the struggle to become freeof what is earthly. This eternal quality is expressed in astrong affirmation of life, for it gives people the strengthand desire for a purposeful fulfillment of their earthlylives. In the Youth Movement this twofold striving – thelonging for a fulfilled life and liberation from thefinite–finds its strongest expression in its image of thenew man. Although things may look very different fromone branch to another or from one individual to another,this is the common goal of the Youth Movement and isreflected everywhere in it. And if we are concerned withthe Youth Movement’s attitude to various areas of life,we need to return to the longing for a new humanity.
