Setting ThresholdsSettingThresholdsThe Set Thresholds tool can help you locate problems or faults on thenetwork.When you set a threshold for an activity on a hub, you instruct the hubto take specific action when a counter value falls above or below the setthreshold.The action taken can be one or a combination of the following:❏❏❏Send a trapPartition the portActivate a pagerTo set the threshold value, first determine what the baseline or normaloperating range is for the activity you are monitoring. Set the thresholdabove or below that range.∆You must have write privileges for a hub to set athreshold on it.The maximum number of thresholds at one time for a device are as follows:❏❏❏❏AsantéHub 1012 or AsantéBridge 1012 — 4 thresholdsAsantéHub 2072 and the NetStacker hub— 14 thresholdsAsanté 1016-IQ and AsantéFAST 100 ManagementModule —16 thresholdsThe AsantéBridge and NetRAS do not support thresholdsTo set, or add, a threshold entry on a hub segment, group, or port:123Double-click the desired hub on the map.Open the Fault menu.Select Set Threshold.The Threshold Table window, as shown in Figure 7-15 onpage 7-23, appears.❏To add a threshold table entry, click the Add button.Page 7-21
