認 識 本 會 人 員 Wwf people栽 種 新 思 維Against the Grain於 米 埔 自 然 保 護 區 工 作 的 環 保 主 任 洪 敦 熹 熱 衷 觀 鳥 ,他 採 取 了 一 個 非 常 創 新 的 方 法 提 高 米 埔 的 鳥 類 多 樣 性 。WWF’s Conservation Officer Tony Hung, an ardent birdwatcher, takesan innovative approach to promoting bird diversity in Mai Po.洪 敦 熹 經 常 於 戶 外 工 作 , 亦 因 此 曬 得 一 身 健 康 的 古 銅 膚色 。 他 在 今 年 1 月 加 入 世 界 自 然 基 金 會 , 主 要 職 責 是 監 察米 埔 計 劃 的 生 境 管 理 ; 亦 是 保 育 項 目 「 邁 向 后 海 灣 可 持 續發 展 」 的 主 要 策 劃 人 員 。為 了 增 加 米 埔 的 鳥 類 多 樣 性 , 洪 敦 熹 最 近 想 到 利 用 米 埔 一塊 空 置 了 的 濕 地 種 植 稻 米 。 他 表 示 :「 本 會 的 工 作 激 發 我們 不 斷 提 出 新 構 思 。 就 以 此 為 例 , 當 我 和 上 司 分 享 這 個 構思 時 , 他 非 常 支 持 , 並 鼓 勵 我 作 出 嘗 試 。」其 實 種 植 稻 米 並 不 是 一 個 心 血 來 潮 的 想 法 。 洪 敦 熹 在 加 入本 會 前 , 曾 在 香 港 另 一 片 重 要 濕 地 塱 原 種 植 稻 米 , 之 後 該區 的 雀 鳥 品 種 數 目 亦 因 此 增 加 。他 說 :「 我 希 望 能 透 過 這 次 嘗 試 , 加 強 米 埔 的 文 化 價 值 ,並 進 行 教 育 推 廣 。 稻 米 田 亦 可 吸 引 一 些 以 種 子 為 食 物 的The healthy tan on Tony Hung, WWF-Hong Kong’s ConservationOfficer for Mai Po Projects, is a testimony to his daily outdoor activityand his passion for birdwatching. Hung joined WWF this January;his main responsibilities include overseeing the habitat managementof Mai Po’s projects, and working with the Local Biodiversityteam on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reviews. He isalso a forerunner of the conservation project “Deep Bay TowardsSustainability”.Hung’s work as a proactive environmentalist doesn’t stop there.Recently, he came up with the idea of retrieving a piece of vacatedwetland in Mai Po in order to grow rice to promote bird diversity.“Working for WWF, one can generate many ideas,” says Hung. “Thisrice growing trial, for example, was an idea that came to me oneday.
