In, 1985, EQUATIONS was founded in response to an urge tounderstand the impact of development particularly in the contextof liberalized trade regimes, the opening up of the nationaleconomy, the beginning of the reforms and concomitantstructural adjustment programmes.Campaigning and advocacy on tourism and development issuesin India and the developing world, in recent years our work hasfocused on women and tourism, child and tourism, ecosystemsand communities and tourism and globalisation.We envision tourism that is non-exploitative, where decisionmaking is democratized and access to and benefits of tourismare equitably distributed.
