Graduate Studies ProgrammeDuring <strong>2008</strong>, <strong>CNC</strong> organized 19 Advanced Courses <strong>and</strong> hosted 42 seminars. The seminars were attendedby local graduate students <strong>and</strong> researchers, whereas the advanced courses also met the interest <strong>of</strong> peoplefrom other Portuguese Universities. Besides the organization <strong>of</strong> courses <strong>and</strong> seminars, <strong>CNC</strong> also supportedthe ongoing research work <strong>for</strong> Ph.D. <strong>and</strong> M.Sc. thesis. Throughout this year, 21 Ph.D. <strong>and</strong> 24 M.Sc. thesiswere concluded.In October 2002 <strong>CNC</strong>, with the financial support <strong>of</strong> FCT, launched an International Doctoral Programme inExperimental Biology <strong>and</strong> Biomedicine to provide advanced, multidisciplinary, research‐oriented trainingin emerging areas <strong>of</strong> modern Biology <strong>and</strong> Biomedicine. The programme included advanced courses in topresearch areas, taught by <strong>for</strong>ein scientists in collaboration with local investigators, laboratory rotations <strong>and</strong>research work o be carried out within international networks organized by <strong>CNC</strong>.
