<strong>2008</strong> <strong>Wisconsin</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> <strong>Journal</strong>BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such educational opportunities be annuallyreported to the Charge/Church <strong>Conference</strong>s and the same be reported to the AppointiveCabinet through the Regional Offices; andBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pastors, circuit team leaders, lay members ofthe Annual <strong>Conference</strong>, lay leaders of the local churches, S/PPRC teams and ChurchCouncils will proactively provide leadership by advocating and promoting suchtransformational educational opportunities in the local congregations and Circuits.<strong>Conference</strong> Action: ApprovedAction Item 15:Submitted by:Resolution Establishing a “<strong>Conference</strong> Faith-Based Safety TaskForce”<strong>Conference</strong> Leadership and Ministry and Outreach TeamWhereas The <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong> of The <strong>United</strong> Methodist Church desiresto create a culture of hospitality that protects vulnerable people; andWhereas The <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong> of The <strong>United</strong> Methodist Church seeksto better protect people and property; andWhereas The <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong> of The <strong>United</strong> Methodist Churchseeks to develop swift and appropriate faith-based responses to disasters, crises, andemergencies; andWhereas in each Quadrennium since 1996 the General <strong>Conference</strong> has advised annualconferences develop guidelines and training processes for use by church leaders whocarry responsibility for prevention of child abuse in local churches, (2004 Book ofDiscipline, Social Principles 162.III.C, and 2004 Book of Resolutions 65); andWhereas the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong> of the <strong>United</strong> Methodist Church hasconsulted with Church Mutual, the insurance carrier for the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual<strong>Conference</strong> of the <strong>United</strong> Methodist Church, in an effort to develop and promote bestrisk management practices and strengthen our child abuse prevention and church andministry protection strategies; andTHEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a “<strong>Conference</strong> Faith-Based Safety TaskForce” be established by the Director of Connectional Ministries, in cooperation withthe <strong>Conference</strong> Board of Trustees, to develop, coordinate, and make available faithbasedsafety resources for use by local churches, and provide a means of disseminatinginformation and training for local churches to adapt these resources for their use.<strong>Conference</strong> Action: ApprovedAction Item 16:Submitted by:Resolution on the Continuance of the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong>HIV/AIDS Proactive Task Force<strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong> HIV/AIDS Proactive Task ForceWhereas, the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Annual <strong>Conference</strong> adopted a resolution in 2005 in supportof the 2004 General <strong>Conference</strong> initiative calling for <strong>United</strong> Methodists to help combatHIV/AIDS (the Global AIDS Fund, Advance #982345), andItems Requiring <strong>Conference</strong> Action153
