(This relates to the need for positive, healthy relationships.)• Goal 3: To provide greater support and resources for churches requestingapportionment reductions. (This relates to accountability for our commoncovenant as a connectional church.)• Goal 4: To expand the Academy for Congregation Transformation and the NewFaith Academy in the conference. (This relates to clergy and lay leadershipdevelopment for revitalization and new church start-up teams.)Who is going to benefit from your agency’s planned work in <strong>2008</strong>/9?• Mission church leaders will receive training and resources to help them becomemore self-sufficient and less dependent on conference funding year after year.• New Church Starts and New Mission Churches will reach new, younger, andmore ethnically diverse populations in communities with high potential.• Incentive Grants will help existing congregations become vital, growingchurches.• All existing congregations will have access to current demographic informationabout their mission study area for visioning and planning.• Clergy and Lay Teams will be trained in revitalization processes in the Academyfor Congregational Transformation.• Clergy and Lay Teams will receive assessment and training in starting a NewChurch Start in the New Ministry Academy.Submitted by Ric OlsonBo a r d o f Gl o b a l MinistriesIntroductory CommentsAccountabilityThe <strong>Conference</strong> Board of Global Ministries has the responsibility for the oversight and thecoordination of the mission work of the Annual <strong>Conference</strong>. The Board, in establishingits membership policy, seeks to reflect the diversity of the Annual <strong>Conference</strong>. Membersare selected from each of the districts. There are also at-large members elected by theAnnual <strong>Conference</strong> and by the Board itself. The Board meets three times annually (twoface-to-face meetings and one phone conference). All Board members are encouraged toparticipate in one of the Board’s committees.Philosophy and PrioritiesThe <strong>Conference</strong> Board of Global Ministries is responsible for maintaining the connectionalrelationship between the General Board of Global Ministries and the Annual <strong>Conference</strong>.The <strong>Conference</strong> Board sees as one of its priorities the importance of making the missionof the General Church real by inspiring, educating, recruiting, training, informing and212 Reports of Boards and Agencies
