2008 Wisconsin Conference JournalWhereas the Marriott Madison West Hotel and Convention Center declined to offera contract to the Program and Arrangements Committee for the Annual Conferencesession beyond the year 2008, andWhereas the Program and Arrangements Committee has toured several facilities inwhich to hold the Annual Conference session including, but not limited to, the ChulaVista in Wisconsin Dells and the Midwest Airline Center in Milwaukee, andWhereas there were several locations that chose not to bid for the business of theAnnual Conference, such as university campuses, andWhereas it was clear that a new venue was needed for the 2009 Annual Conferencesession,THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Program and Arrangements Committeerecommends that the 2009 Wisconsin Annual Conference Session be held at theRadisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, Wisconsin.Conference Action: ApprovedAction Item 23:Submitted by:2009 Proposed BudgetCouncil on Finance and AdministrationThe 2009 Approved Budget is printed following the end of this section of the Journal.Action Item 24:Submitted by:Resolution on the Location of Future Sessions of the WisconsinAnnual ConferenceProgram and Arrangements CommitteeWhereas 603.3 of the 2004 Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Churchstates that “The annual conference or a committee thereof shall select the place forholding the conference…,” andWhereas the Program and Arrangements Committee has recommended to the 2008session of the Wisconsin Annual Conference that the 2009 Annual Conference sessionbe held at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, Wisconsin, andWhereas the Program and Arrangements Committee is continuing to explore otherpossible sites for future sessions of the Wisconsin Annual Conference, andWhereas there are a limited number of facilities in the State of Wisconsin that are anappropriate size to hold the Wisconsin Annual Conference session, andWhereas contracts with facilities capable of holding the Wisconsin Annual Conferencesession must be negotiated several years in advance, andWhereas contracts with such facilities for future sessions of the Annual Conferencemay need to be signed before the next annual conference session meets to approve thelocation,Therefore be it resolved that the Program and Arrangements Committee of theWisconsin Annual Conference shall be authorized to establish the location of theWisconsin Annual Conference sessions for the years 2010 through 2012.Conference Action: ApprovedItems Requiring Conference Action161
