Commissioning<strong>GEA</strong> <strong>CAIRfricostar</strong>8 CommissioningNOTE!The following information applies for the initial commissioning as well as in case ofrepeated commissioning after the unit has not been in operation for a long period oftime.The <strong>GEA</strong> <strong>CAIRfricostar</strong> unit may only be commissioned by <strong>GEA</strong> authorized personnelor <strong>GEA</strong> service staff!NOTE!Data sheet and assembly instructions can be found on the inside of the equipmentwhere this label appears. These documents must be removed prior to commissioning.DAMAGE TO THE UNIT!When accessing the <strong>GEA</strong> CAIR units care must be taken to ensure that no loads areapplied to the floor panels. During installation and maintenance work, suitable measuresare to be taken to ensure that all loads are spread across the bottom profiles(e.g. using grid walkways). It is not allowed to scratch the unit surfaces ordamage the unit in a similar way!8.1 RequirementsInspection of mechanicalcomponentsInspection of electricalconnectionBefore switching the unit on and after the installation make sure that:• The operating mode corresponds to the opearting limits. Refer to „Operating limitsand range of application“ as well as „Ambient conditions“ on page 17.• The unit has been properly positioned and anchored in order to avoid unusual noiseand vibration during operation.• The unit has been inspected for interior and exterior damage, like, for example,damaged components or pipes.• The unit has been thoroughly cleaned inside and outside. Drilling chips orany other possible dirt must be carefully removed.• Make sure that the on-site wiring provided by others has been completed in theaccordance with requirements and instructions as stated in Chapter „ElectricalConnection“ on page 38. The given Chapter points out that it is imperative to followspecifications of wiring diagrams and make all electrical connections in compliancewith European and national relevant regulations as well as regulations of localpublic unitily companies.• Make sure that the grounding lines have been properly connected and thegrounding clamps have been tightened.• Make sure that there are no loose connections and damaged parts in the terminalbox. Tighten all connecting terminals on the terminal board and strips.• Check supply voltage. The voltage must correspond to the specifications stated onthe type plate or in the unit related documentation.• Make sure to observe the operation manual on controls (DDC or electronic).For unit commissioning it is necessary to follow additional steps. Follow all specifiedinstructions to perform commissining of all unit components.8.2 General unit-related instructionsThe following commissioning steps must be carried out:• Carefully check the entire casing and parts such as– Doors and service openings– Seals– Handles and levers– Connections with foam rubber seals44 PR-2006-0019-GB • Subject to modifications • Status 05/2009
