<strong>GEA</strong> <strong>CAIRfricostar</strong>Disassembly and Disposal10 Disassembly and DisposalENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE!Only appropriately trained personnel may dismantle and dispose of the unit!10.1 DisassemblyTo dismantle the unit, proceed as follows:ELECTRICAL HAZARD!When carrying out any decommissioning and dismantling work on the unit, switch offall power supply connections, ensure they cannot be switched on again unintentionallyand verify that they have been disconnected. Earth and short-circuit them, andcover or otherwise isolate any neighbouring live parts. Failure to do so may lead toserious injury or death.• Close all hydraulic shut-off valves.• Disconnect all connections – make sure that operating fluids (such as oil, refrigerantand water-glycol mixture) do not escape.As pipes in the system have a relatively small diameter, it must always be assumedthat some water will remain in the unit after it has been drained in a usual way. Forsafety reasons, the system must also be blown through with compressed air toremove any remaining water.• Release the connection with wall or floor.PERSONAL INJURY!Secure the unit against slipping. The unit is ready for transporting.• Please be sure to observe all information in chapter „Transportation“ on page 18.10.2 DisposalAuthorized technical services department must dispose of the unit or individualcomponents. The technical services department must ensure that:– the components have been separated according to material types.– the used operating materials have been sorted and separated according to theirrespective properties.ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE!• Depending on material type, dispose of all parts, filters (activated carbon filter,filter cartridges, etc.) and operating supply materials (such as oil, refrigerant andwater-glycol mixture) in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance withlocal laws and environmental regulations.PR-2006-0019-GB • Subject to modifications • Status 05/2009 63
