MaintenanceGEA CAIRfricostar9 MaintenanceNOTE!The measures relating to maintenance and cleaning are aimed to keep the unit’sfunctional operabilty. Additional national and international regulations and provisionsconcerning unit cleaning and operation are to be taken into account and followed bythe unit user on a separate basis.ELECTRICAL HAZARD!The following applies for all maintenance and cleaning work: the doors of the unitmay only be opened if the unit has been switched off and cannot be accidentallyswitched back on.DANGER FROM ROTATING UNIT PARTS!The fans do not come to a standstill immediately if the unit has been powered down. You should therefore wait for at least 5 minutes until the fans have come to a standstillbefore starting maintenance and cleaning work.DAMAGE TO THE UNIT!When accessing the GEA CAIR units care must be taken to ensure that no loads areapplied to the floor panels. During installation and maintenance work, suitable measuresare to be taken to ensure that all loads are spread across the bottom profiles(e.g. using grid walkways). It is not allowed to scratch the unit surfaces ordamage the unit in a similar way!PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES!When cleaning and conducting certain maintenance work on the unit it is obligatoryto wear a mask and protective gloves.Atmospheric load inswimming poolsAbout maintenance intervals:Maintenance log bookRecommendation forservice/maintenancecontract:The GEA CAIRfricostar units are supplied with high quality components but netherthelessrequire certain maintenance. Therefore in order to ensure long service life andeconomical operation, we recommend to perform regular inspections and maintenanceprocedures.Due to the fact that the concentration of chemical elements (chlorine, pH increasers,pH decreasers, salts, detergents, etc.) is significantly higher in the air of swimmingpools and on enclosed premises as compared with air treated by standard air handlingunits, we recommend to adjust regular visual inspections and cleaning and maintenanceprocedures to these conditions. Special attention must be paid to unit componentsthat are subjected to wear and tear and parts that are located within the „wet deck/splashing area“ and in such a way come into direct contact with condensate - thesecomponents are to be inspected on a regular basis. The actual maintenance and cleaning intervals depend on concrete unit applicationand configuration. During the first three months after the commissioning it isnecessary to perform maintenance on a monthly basis in order to obtain verifiedinformation about the operational status of the unit.Perform the necessary maintenance steps during the specified intervals. The unitmaintenance log book for the first two years of operation has been enclosed in theAppendix. Continuous entries into the log constitute the basis for warranty claims! We would like to recommend to keep account of all maintenance procedures in the logbook even after the first two years of operation have elapsed. Under all circumstancesit is obligatoty to conduct regular maintenance and cleaning procedures specified onthe following pages. We would like to recommend to you to conclude a service contract with your installer/service firm or with GEA.50 PR-2006-0019-GB • Subject to modifications • Status 05/2009
