GEA CAIRfricostarMaintenance9.8 Evaporator/condenserNOTEThe following tasks and any necessary repair work may only be carried out byqualified refrigeration tradesmen!Ensure that regulations regarding refrigerants are obsered!ELECTRICAL HAZARD AND DANGER FROM ROTATING UNIT PARTS ANDSHARP EDGES! OBSERVE PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES!In this connection make sure to observe the safety information on page 50 andpage 52.The following maintenance steps must be carried out:• Clean and check evaporator/condenser as described in „Heater unit (L.P.H.W.)“ onpage 46.Direct evaporator • Make sure that all refrigeration components in direct evaporators (refrigerationunits, direct evaporator, distribution manifold, refrigerant lines, etc.) are workingefficiently.9.9 Heat pipeELECTRICAL HAZARD AND DANGER FROM ROTATING UNIT PARTS ANDSHARP EDGES! OBSERVE PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES!In this connection make sure to observe the safety information on page 50 andpage 52.The following maintenance steps must be carried out:• Clean heat transfer fins regularly:– by blowing out the fins using compressed air against the direction of the air flow or– by spraying the fins using low pressure water only!• Clean condensate tray and condensate drain.• Check siphon, top up as necessary.• If a heat pipe with bypass is used, the air control and shut-off dampers must bechecked in accordance with the maintenance instructions (also see „Dampers andshut-off dampers“ on page 62).9.10 Liquid-coupled heat exchanger (LCHE)See „Maintenance of heater unit (L.P.H.W.)“ on page 60.9.11 Plate-type heat exchangerELECTRICAL HAZARD AND DANGER FROM ROTATING UNIT PARTS!In this connection make sure to observe the safety information on page 50.The plate heat exchanger operates independently of any external, mechanical orelectrical actuators, it has no moving parts and its service life is limited only by theeffects of corrosion. The following maintenance steps must be carried out:• Carry out cleaning depending on the type of contamination in the plate block.Remove dry dust and fibres at the exchanger inlet using a hair broom and blow out.• Check the function of the bypass damper if necessary.• Wet cleaning may only be carried out if a tray has been installed!PR-2006-0019-GB • Subject to modifications • Status 05/2009 61
