<strong>GEA</strong> <strong>CAIRfricostar</strong>MaintenanceThe following maintenance steps must be carried out:• Carefully check the entire casing and parts such as– Doors and service openings– Seals– Handles and levers– Connections with foam rubber seals– Inspection windows– Panelsfor damage and firm seating.Doors and service openings• Check seals, renew if necessary.• Check that door safety catch (on discharge side) is functioning correctly.Panels• Check for damage and corrosion.• Renew or apply corrosion protection (paint), impregnate, etc., if necessary.Siphon• Clean and refill existing siphons.Hygiene inspectionObserve current guidelinesand standards! Werecommend themaintenance steps andintervals specified inVDI 6022• Check built-in parts for contamination, clean if necessary.• Carry out wipe disinfection (disinfectant must not be aggressive towards thematerials used, only use alcohol-based disinfectant).• Check the sealing materials for bacteria and fungi. Clean or replace the sealingmaterials if required.9.4 Fan unit and drives9.4.1 Belt-driven fan unitsELECTRICAL HAZARD AND DANGER FROM ROTATING UNIT PARTS! OB-SERVE PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES!In this connection make sure to observe the safety information on page 50.DAMAGE TO UNITWhen the fan is at a standstill and the unit heater control valve (water, steam orrefrigerant) is open, the temperatures inside the unit reach a rough equivalent of theinlet temperature of the heating medium (normally around 90 °C). This causesdamage through deformation of plastic parts (particularly to plastic dropleteliminators, humidifier honeycombs etc.).Furthermore, fan and motor bearings with permanent lubrication may be damagedat temperatures above 80 °C. Many electric built-in components (frequency convertersetc.) may only be operated at temperatures up to a maximum of 40 °C – also seethe relevant manufacturer's instructions.The following maintenance and inspection steps must be carried out:• Check that fans are securely mounted.• Check fans for dirt, damage and corrosion.• Check that anti-vibration mounts are functioning correctly.• Check that belt guards are functioning correctly, clean if necessary.• Check impeller for out of balance.PR-2006-0019-GB • Subject to modifications • Status 05/2009 55
