The remaining life expectancy at age 10 for cohortborn in 1851 was 53 years for men and 55 years for women. Forcohorts born after 1851 mortality have decreased. This mortalitydecrease was at first slowstarted, but starting with the cohorts bornaround 1870 the mortality decreased y beganto more rapidly,especially for women. As a result, the difference in the remaininglife expectancy at age 10 between women and men increased from 2for those born in 1851 to 5 years for those born in 1910. Theremaining average life expectancy for other ages shows a similartrend. The figure also illustrates that mortality have even decreasedamong the oldest persons. Among those born in 1781, women had aremaining life expectancy at age 80 of 5.0 years and men 4.3 years.Statistics Sweden 47
