BenerAbstract:Objectives To define the prevalence of selected risk factors of CHD in Al Yahar area.Also, to identify the most important risk factors of CHD in this area and to determinethe association between those factors and the level of education.Design Cross-sectional population survey.Subjects 160 males and females.Results and Conclusion Most of Al Yahar people (91.8%) were at a low or moderaterisk degree and the most important risk factors, identified with significant association,were: male sex (40.6%), lack of exercise (78.5%), smoking among males (52.3%)and over weight (68.1%). There was strong association between level of educationand risk factors for CHD. The presence of smoking and use of animal fat were founddecreasing with increased level of education. The percentage of those who exercise,who use vegetable oil in cooking and who had themselves measured in the last 6months were found increasing with increased level of education.Recommendations Improve the primary health care facilities and services. Also toimprove the health strategies in this area and to improve the quantity and quality ofeducation. More health education about these factors among people are needed.
