Sierra Instruments Instruction ManualSmartTrak ® 100 SeriesSpecified Leak Rate Maximum: 4.9% of full scale.o NOTE: Sierra recommends the use of a positive shutoff valve in series withthe C100L-HP. Make sure the Cv of the shutoff valve is sufficiently large tonot cause a choked flow condition at rates less than the FS of the C100L-HP.For specific low pressure drop limits per given flow rate, gas, and known inletpressure, consult the factory.Flow of many particular gases through any constriction can cause cooling; the gasrobs latent energy as it transitions energy from potential to kinetic, as a function ofcompressibility, the heat transfer coefficient, thermal expansion coefficient, andother gas properties. This effect is often known as hyper-cooling. This effect ismagnified by the flow rate vs. pressure, with the largest magnitude of hyper-coolingoccurring in cases of high flow rates with large pressure drops across the MFCcontrol valve. For best accuracy and performance, it is recommended that a formof thermal packing, gas temperature conditioning, convective heating, or lineheating, be employed to mitigate this effect. Sierra is not responsible for variationin calibration due to gas or system conditions.Safety Instructions1. Please read all instructions and cautionary markings on the instrument, as wellas all appropriate sections of the Instruction Manual before using this product.2. WARNING: Do not operate this instrument in excess of the specifications listedon the data label, in this addendum, or in the Instructional Manual, IM-100.Failure to heed this warning can result in equipment damage, failure, seriousinjury or death.3. Verify proper connection of all pressure sources and electrical signals prior toapplying pressure or power to the MFC.4. OPERATION: (a) Slowly apply pressure to the system. Open process valvesslowly to avoid flow surges. (b) Check for leaks around the meter inlet andoutlet connections. If no leaks are present, bring the system up to operatingpressure.5. WARNING: If this equipment is not properly serviced, serious personal injuryand/or damage to the equipment can result from the potentially high operatingpressures. Please insure that the process line pressure is removed prior toservice.86
