EDIT—SAVE Subcommandnew_line_numberspecifies the first line number to be assigned to the data set. If thisoperand is omitted, the first line number is 10.incrspecifies the amount by which each succeeding line number is to beincremented. The default is 10. This operand cannot be included unlessthe new_line_number is specified.old_line_numberspecifies the line location within the data set where the renumberprocess begins. If this operand is omitted, renumbering starts at thebeginning of the data set. The old_line_number must be equal to orless than the new_line_number. If you specify this operand, then youmust also specify INCR.end_line_numberspecifies the line location within the data set where renumbering is toend. If this operand is omitted, renumbering stops at the end of the dataset. The end_line_number must be greater than the old_line_number.This operand cannot be included unless the old_line_number isspecified.UNNUMspecifies the data set is to be unnumbered before it is saved.If the data set you are editing originally contained control characters (ANSI ormachine), and you enter SAVE without operands, the following actions apply:v For Sequential Data Set: You are warned that the data set is saved withoutcontrol characters, that is, the record format is changed. Then you are promptedto enter another data set name for SAVE or a null line to reuse the EDIT dataset.v For Partitioned Data Set: Saving into the EDIT data set with a control characterattribute is not allowed when it is partitioned.
