FIND commandFINDcommandUse the FIND command to search for a specific text string in the stream that awindow is displaying or to determine the number of the top line displayed in awindow.If the Session Manager finds the text string, it scrolls the window so that the linecontaining the text string is displayed on the top line of the window and the windowis locked. If the text string is not found, the Session Manager places a message inthe Session Manager output stream. If you issue the FIND command with a null textstring (adjacent quote marks ''), the Session Manager searches for the previous textstring.For the FIND.LINE command, the Session Manager writes the following message inthe specified window:ADF031I window_name VIEWING LINE nnnnn‘nnnnn’ is the top line number in the window.The FIND.LINE command is useful for finding a line number for theSCROLL.ABSOLUTE command, for copying a range of lines using the SMCOPYcommand, or for locating a text string within a range of lines using the SMFINDcommand. The Session Manager does not lock the window when you use theFIND.LINE command.FIND command syntax►►FIND.FBACKWARDBFORWARDFLINELTarget'text_string'default_windowwindow_name►◄TargetSMOUTTARGET( stream_name )FIND command operandsBACKWARDcauses the Session Manager to search for the specified text_string from the topline in the window on the display screen backward toward the top of the stream.The stream searched is the one displayed in either the default window or thewindow specified on the command.FORWARDcauses the Session Manager to search for the specified text_string from thecurrent line on the display screen forward toward the bottom of the stream.
