CACRalph Kline, Ironton-Lawrence CAOJeff Woda, CRHDOGerald Arnott, USDA Rural Development<strong>OHFA</strong> Staff:Ed WylieDawn LarzelereMeeting History:August 7, 2008September 4, 2008October 1, 2008Executive Summary<strong>Housing</strong> Need Description and its Urgency to <strong>Ohio</strong>:• The ability of residents in rural and Appalachian <strong>Ohio</strong> to find quality affordablehousing is constrained by numerous factors such as: a smaller and aging population,inconsistent and/or inappropriate regulatory restrictions, stagnant economic growth, jobloss, substandard existing housing stock, lack of accessible sites (visitability, resourcesfor aid to residents, transportation and other support services), infrastructure andcapacity for development.Met <strong>Housing</strong> Needs:• The <strong>Ohio</strong> Department of Development prepares an annual Consolidated <strong>Plan</strong> required byHUD for programs undertaken in conjunction with HUD funding.• The “Resource Inventory” identifies the various housing programs <strong>OHFA</strong> has to serve<strong>Ohio</strong>ans.• The “Resource Inventory” identifies other federal, state, and statewide programsavailable for housing in the rural and Appalachian regions of <strong>Ohio</strong>.90
