Java 2 security can be enabled on the Global <strong>Security</strong> panel under the<strong>WebSphere</strong> Administration Console, by selecting the checkbox. For moreinformation on Java 2 <strong>Security</strong> configuration, refer to 10.2, “<strong>WebSphere</strong> Global<strong>Security</strong>” on page 235.As a default, when Global security is enabled for <strong>WebSphere</strong>, Java 2 security isdisabled.<strong>WebSphere</strong> also maintains a set of policy files for the application server runtime.These files are listed below:► \java\jre\lib\security\java.policy► \properties\– was.policy– client.policy– server.policy► \config\cells\\filter.policy► \config\cells\\nodes\– app.policy– library.policy– spi.policy►was.policy for the applications under each installed application in theMETA-INF directory.8.6 JAASJAAS (Java Authentication and Authorization Services) is a standard extensionto the Java 2 SDK v1.3 and it is part of Java 2 SDK v1.4.
