COMMUTATION OF LEAVE ON DEATH OF EMPLOYEEAll outstanding leave due to an employee at the time of death shall beconverted to salary and paid to his estate.17. BEREAVEMENT AIDIf an employee passes away whilst in service, his/her next-of-kin maybe eligible to claim for coverage if the employee has signed up thefollowing insurance benefit schemes -(a) The Public Officers Group Insurance Scheme, which is availableto all employees who are below 65 years old and their legalspouse and children above 12 months and below 18 years old.[See Schedule IV].(b) The Group Term Life Insurance, which covers against death andtotal permanent disability. The scheme is open to all employees(including part timers) up to a maximum age of 65. ThePolytechnic will subsidise half the cost of the normal premium fora sum assured equivalent to 12 times the employee‟s basicsalary. [See Schedule V].IVSALARY MATTERS18. SALARY(1) Salary RangesThe Polytechnic Academic Executive (PAX) Scheme is a salaryrange based structure consisting of 6 grades with variableperformance-based merit increments. At the senior levels,staff can aspire to take on managerial leadership roles oracademic leadership roles such as course management,mentoring, pedagogy development and technology development.(2) Pegging to MarketThe total remuneration (monthly salary, performance bonus, etc)will be reviewed periodically, once in every 2 to 3 years, and bealigned to general market conditions.(3) Salary ComponentsThe salary range is the gross monthly salary, which consists ofthe following components -(a) Monthly salary(b) Variable ComponentThe gross monthly salary is the monthly salary plus the VariableComponent.
