<strong>Developing</strong> <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> <strong>Applications</strong>: AdvancedLocalizing Search Menus<strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> searches for the appropriate version of a file menu according towhat locale is set as the user preference.Creating localized menus enables automatic searches on forms based on theuser’s locale.To Create a Localized Search Menu1 Open the <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> User Preference formFor each Windows user who is going to use the localized search menu:a Click the Locale tab.b Enter the Locale for that user in the User Locale field.c Save the form.For each web user who is going to use the localized search menu:aOpen the <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Configuration Tool > General Settings tab.b Ensure that the preference server names for the relevant users is set in thePreference Server(s) tab.2 Create your form that will contain the search menu.3 Add a special field with field ID 160 to the form.4 Create a Search menu on this form.5 Invoke the Search menu.The server automatically appends a query to the search statement, in whichthe special field value equals the user’s locale.Example:Suppose the base query of a Search menu is:“Create Date > 01/01/02”Normally, when this query menu is executed, it will search for all records inwhich the create date is greater than 01/01/02. If you add a field with field ID160 to the form, the server will automatically change the search statement to:“Create Date > 01/01/02 AND Field 160 = ”Localizing Menus ! 133
