<strong>Action</strong> <strong>Request</strong> <strong>System</strong> <strong>5.1</strong>Creating and Publishing a Web-Based Alert ListFor more information on how to perform each of the following steps, referto the <strong>Developing</strong> <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> <strong>Applications</strong>: Basic guide.1 Create a regular form on one server in your <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> installation where themid tier is also installed.2 Add an alert list field to the form.3 Create a web view of the form and deploy it.4 Make this form accessible on the web through a URL.Alternately, users can open the alert list form from <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Alert. Formore information, refer to Installing <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Alert and Configuring WebSettings (Optional) on page 363.Enabling a Preference Server for the Web1 Ensure that one server in your <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> installation is defined as apreference server.For more information about preferences, refer to the Configuring <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong>guide and Installing <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> guide.2 Under General Settings in the <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Configuration Tool, enter thename of the preference server used by alert system users.See <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Configuration Tool online help for more information.Configuring User Preference Values for Alerts on the WebFor each user, set the following preferences in the <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Windows UserTool Preferences form. These preferences are available on the Web view oron the Web tab of the Default Administrator view of this form. For moreinformation about centralized preferences, refer to the Configuring <strong>AR</strong><strong>System</strong> guide.1 In the Alert Servers field, enter the name of each server (separated bycommas) from which users receive alerts.Alerts from these servers will be visible in the web-based alert list. Users donot need to be logged in to these servers to receive alerts or to display theoriginating request.2 In the Refresh Interval field, enter the number of minutes between eachautomatic refresh of the alert list. A setting of 0 indicates no refresh interval.Each server specified under Alert Servers will be queried for new alerts, andthese alerts will be displayed in the web-based alert list.362 "Chapter 13—Understanding the Alert <strong>System</strong>
