It includes guidelines for using the CLI and options.Guidelines for Using <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Administrator CLIUse the following guidelines to run commands from the <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong>Administrator CLI. Commands and options are listed in the Table 16-1 onpage 403.! On a machine with <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Administrator installed locally, set thecurrent directory to the directory that contains the <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong>Administrator executable aradmin.exe. The default directory isC:\program files\<strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong>\. File arguments without a directory path arecreated in the current directory.! To type <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> CLI commands from any directory, add the <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong>Administrator directory to your system path environment variable. Referto Windows documentation for instructions.! Every command executed opens a separate <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> session, executesthe command, and logs out.! <strong>AR</strong> <strong>System</strong> Administrator parses commands in the precedence listed in theTable 16-1 on page 403. Commands are interpreted in a predictable orderand may not be executed in the order you type them.! You cannot perform an action against two servers with one command. Forexample, you must issue two commands to export object definitions fromone server and import them into another server.! Enclose arguments that contain blank spaces or symbols in quotationmarks.! Except for the Synchronize Search Database option (-s), each commandhas required arguments.
