Sing in groups. The song has eightverses. Divide the class into two groups (orfour groups, if you have a big class). Eachgroup takes every second verse; Group A hasverses 1,3, 5 and 7, and Group B has 2, 4, 6and 8. (For four groups, give each group twoverses). Each group decides on some actionsfor their verses. Then play the audio againand have groups sing their verses, along withthe actions.2. Identify the main point. In groups, students identify the main point of this song.Answer: Nowhere Man is a normal person, similar to most others, who has no objectivesto his life, no opinions and no ability to thinkfor himself.3. Compare and contrast. In the song, thesinger asks ‘Isn’t he a bit like you and me?’Students compare themselves to NowhereMan. What are the similarities? What are thedifferences? Do students agree that they:- don’t know where they are going?- don’t have opinions?- don’t see anything they don’t want to see?- wait for other people to help them?Students discuss this in groups.Extra IdeaAfter students have identifiedthe lyrics to For No One, do aBackground to the Story activity ifyou have time.
